The Big Question

THE BIG QUESTION

How We Acquired the Steel from Twin Tower Ground Zero?

After the devastation of 9/11, recovery efforts yielded 180 million tons of debris, including 200,000 tons of steel from the collapsed Twin Towers. Most of the steel was sold or recycled, with about 7,000 tons preserved for future memorials. Stored at John F. Kennedy International Airport, this steel became the focal point of numerous tributes, including some destined for use in memorializing the Twin Towers.

Jeff Broughton’s connection to this steel began when International Agile Manufacturing, which had obtained it for commemorative medallions, went bankrupt. Jeff acquired part of this historical steel, envisioning its use in creating something truly meaningful and timepieces that honored the past. His decision to use steel for watch dials featuring the Twin Towers lasered onto the surface marks a bold statement of remembrance.

The company name is engraved on the case back, while the front remains unembellished to allow the beauty of the steel to shine through. This unique dial is clear-coated for protection, offering a lasting tribute that also connects wearers with history.
